Environment Minister Dhammika Patabendi stated that the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is expected to be developed as an elephant research center and an elephant breeding center in the future.

This was stated while participating in a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (08).

Meanwhile, he said that he hopes to appoint a committee in the future and take appropriate action regarding the use of tame elephants for cultural activities.
