The Fort Magistrate's Court has rejected a request by the police to name 10 people including former MP Hirunika Premachandra as suspects in a case related to a protest.
This request was made yesterday when the case related to protesting in front of Fort President's official residence against Hirunika and 10 others was heard.
Hirunika and others were arrested in connection with the protest held on July 6 and later released on police bail.
The case was heard yesterday before Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage, where the request to name the group as suspects in the case was rejected.
The judge has further instructed the police to conduct formal investigations and submit documents to resubmit the request.
