Will the former president return to Sri Lanka? - Answers from Minister Bandula Gunawardena

Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated that former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is staying in Singapore legally and he does not believe the interpretations that he is hiding.
That was while attending the Cabinet press conference held at the Gove ment Information Department today.
Accordingly, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated today that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is expected to retu to Sri Lanka.

The minister also mentioned that the former president has obtained an official visa and gone to Singapore and has not sought refuge as some reports say.
The Minister stated this in an inquiry regarding a complaint filed with the Atto ey General of Singapore for the arrest of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa and reports that he had arrived in Sri Lanka in August.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that the issues pointed out by the jou alist were not discussed in yesterday's cabinet meeting.
The minister stated that he was informed that the former president would retu to the island and said that if there is a change, the relevant authorities will inform the former president.

He also said that the gove ment has not been informed about the travel plans of the former president or the dates of his retu from the political point of view.
