Acceptance of nominations related to local gove ment elections is scheduled to end today (21) at 12.00 noon.

The depositing of security for the election also ended yesterday (20) at 12.00 noon.
 
Election observers have asked political parties to refrain from holding demonstrations after handing over nominations.

Mr. Rohana Hettiarachchi, the executive director of PAFRAL organization, stated that his organization requests all political parties to work for a free and peaceful election and not to oppress the people and not to violate the election laws.

Also, Mr. Manjula Gajanayake, Executive Director of Democratic Reforms and Election Studies Institute, also emphasized that it is important for everyone to support the peaceful conduct of this election and to refrain from motorcades as well as actions that disturb the normal life of the people.
