What happened in the discussion between the representatives of the people's struggle and the President

President Ranil Wickramasinghe says that he is ready to work transparently with the people engaged in the people's struggle and the youth of the country.

The President said that the economic struggles should be remedied and said that it is his intention to involve the protestors and the youth in every effort to overcome the economic struggle.

The Head of State held discussions with several groups engaged in the people's struggle yesterday (5) at the Presidential Secretariat, President Wickremesinghe said that he is against anti-democratic politics and violence.

The President also stated that a country cannot be moved forward through protests alone, and said that in order to serve the country and win the demands, a common position must be reached through negotiations.

President Wickremesinghe also requested that a group be formed to represent the protestors so that all religions, including the representation of women, are represented.

The President proposed there to propose several other places including Colombo and Fort Floating Market for the youth to fulfill their needs with the support of the state and to prepare and submit a proposal for that with the intervention of the protesters.
