Sri Lanka ranks third on high food inflation figures

According to a World Bank update on food security in 53 countries, Sri Lanka is among the 10 countries with the highest food price inflation in 2022.
The updated report published yesterday (15) reveals that Sri Lanka ranks fourth among the countries with the highest nominal food inflation, at 91% on a year-on-year basis.
Sri Lanka's food inflation, which was 9.9% in September 2021, skyrocketed within a four-month period from April 2022 (45.1%) to July 2022 (90.9%).

Zimbabwe tops the list with food inflation of 353% on a year-on-year basis, followed by Lebanon at 240% and Venezuela in third place at 131%.
Then Sri Lanka, Turkey, Iran, Argentina, Moldova, Ethiopia and Rwanda respectively.
