Court issues notice on Ex-President Gotabaya

Today (19) the petitioner party was allowed to send a notice informing former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa that he will appear before the Supreme Court on December 15.

The Supreme Court called the case against an order given by the Court of Appeal preventing the execution of a summons order issued by Gotabaya Rajapaksa by the Jaffna Magistrate's Court regarding the disappearance of two social activists, Lalith Weeraraj and Koogan Muruganandan, who were residents of the Jaffna area within the Jaffna High Security Zone.

The Supreme Court had previously given permission to the plaintiff to summon the respondent Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to the court today, but he did not appear before the court on the grounds that he had abandoned his residence at the Mirihana residence.
Accordingly, the bench of Judges Gamini Amarasekara, Yasanta Kodagoda and A.H.A.M Navas, who considered a request made by lawyer Mr. Nuwan Bopage, who appeared for the prosecution, to give permission to go to the house located in Wijerama area and deliver the summons, granted this permission.
