National Assembly will start for the first time



Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena says that the National Assembly will start for the first time next Thursday (29).

The speaker mentioned that the future activities will be discussed there.

Meanwhile, political parties recently submitted the names of parliamentarians to the Speaker for the National Assembly.

Accordingly, the names of Douglas Devananda, Nasir Ahmed, Tiran Alas, Sisira Jayakodi, Sivanesathurei Chandrakanthan, Johnston Fe ando, Rauf Hakeem, Pavitra Vanniarachchi and Vajira Abeywardena are included.

Apart from this, the names of A. L. M. Athaullah, Tissa Witharana, Rishad Badiuddin, Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Palani Digambaran, Mano Ganesan, Udaya Gammanpila and Rohitha Abeygunawardena have also been proposed to the National Assembly.

Namal Rajapaksa, Jeevan Thondaman, Gajendra Kumar, Athuraliye Ratana Thero, Asanka Navaratne, Ali Sabri Rahim, C. V. Wigneswaran, Weerasumana Weerasinghe and Sagara Kariyawasam are among the names included in the National Assembly.

However, it is said that no member representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, the National Jana Balawegaya and the Dallas Alahapperuma party has been nominated for it.
