Sri Lanka Railways has announced that train timetables will be amended from next week.

The Railway Department said the timetable will be amended in several stages.

Accordingly, the timetable of trains running along the Kelani Valley Line will be amended on the 5th of December.

Meanwhile, several incidents of train derailment and delays have been reported in the past few weeks.

Rail employees attribute the delays and derailment to the dilapidated state of rail tracks and owing to lack of staff.
