12 JICA-funded projects in Sri Lanka suspended

Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva says that 12 projects funded by Japan under the Japan Inte ational Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be suspended.
Speaking in Parliament, he said that due to the allegations that Sri Lanka is bankrupt, the Inte ational Monetary Fund (IMF) will suspend projects until a road map is established on Sri Lanka's debt and its sustainability.

He stated this in response to a question asked by the opposition member of parliament Mr. Iran Wickramaratne regarding the suspension of finance and loans.
Member of Parliament Wickramaratne had pointed out that the second terminal of Bandaranaike Inte ational Airport had been taken by JICA in the amount of 570 million dollars and had been put on hold.
USD from China Exim Bank to construct a highway from Kadavata to Mirigama, He added that an amount of 51 million has also been frozen.
