Sinopec is going to invest in 150 petrol stations and 50 new petrol stations which are currently maintained by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
This is according to the agreement signed yesterday between China's Sinopec Company and the Ministry of Power and Energy to access the country's retail petroleum market.
Sinopec will thus be granted a license to conduct business in Sri Lanka for a period of 20 years.
Sinopec and its subsidiaries are scheduled to start operations in Sri Lanka within 45 days after the license is issued.
