67 elephant deaths reported

From January to May this year the number of elephant deaths reported is an unbelievable 67.

Compared to 2023, more than 200 elephant deaths have happened in 2024.

Every deceased wild elephant had died in cultivated lands.

Currently, the only successful solution to the elephant-human conflict in Sri Lanka is elephant fencing. However, the Wildlife Department is not able to maintain the elephant fences in the long term.
