The former Director of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), Assistant Superintendent of Police Neville Silva, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and is set to be presented before the Ratnapura Magistrate's Court today (10).

According to police reports, Silva was arrested at the Police Field Force Headquarters following an investigation launched in response to a complaint filed in August 2023. The complaint alleged that he acted in a manner that benefited the complainant.

The CID investigation confirmed Silva’s involvement in aiding and abetting a case of kidnapping and wrongful confinement. Further legal proceedings will take place as the case is presented to the court.
