Plan A - The Seine River
For the first time in Olympic history, the Summer Games will begin on a river, transforming Paris into a vast Olympic stadium with the Seine as the track and the quays as spectator stands.
On July 26, 2024, at 8:00 PM local time, nearly 100 boats will carry 10,500 athletes from 206 countries along a 3.7-mile route, passing iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral.
Thousands of artists, including 300 dancers, will perform at every bridge crossing.
Plan B - Trocadero Gardens
Should Plan A be unfeasible, the opening ceremonies will be held entirely at the Trocadero Gardens.
The Gardens are the final destination for the flotilla in Plan A, where President Macron will officially announce the opening of the Games.
The Gardens offer a historic and scenic venue for the ceremonies.
Plan C - Stade de France
As a contingency, the traditional Olympic ceremony will be held at the Stade de France, an 80,698-seat stadium in Saint-Denis.
This plan mirrors past Olympic Games, providing a secure and controlled environment for the ceremonies.
