The Department of Meteorology says that there will be several periods of rain today (24) in Weste , Sabaragamuwa and North-Weste provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

There may also be some rain in the northe province.

The department said that Ampara and Batticaloa districts are likely to experience rain or thundershowers at a few places during the evening or night.

It is said that there is mainly rainless weather in the rest of the island.

In the weste slopes of the central hills, in the northe and north-central provinces, Moneragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, the wind blowing at times per 40 kmh.

The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
