Sri Lanka's GDP Sees Promising Growth in Q3 2024



The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country has shown a positive growth of 5.5% in the third quarter of 2024, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

The GDP, which stood at Rs. 2,987,544 million at constant prices (2015) in the third quarter of 2023, increased to Rs. 3,151,941 million in the corresponding period of 2024.

The Department further reported that agricultural, industrial, and service sectors contributed to this growth. Agricultural activities recorded a growth rate of 3.0%, industrial activities grew by 10.8%, and service sector activities increased by 2.6% during the period from July 1 to September 30, 2024.

The figures were estimated and published based on current and constant prices, reflecting an overall improvement in the nation's economic performance.
