The Department of Meteorology says that after 01.00 pm today (09), there may be scattered showers or thunderstorms.

Accordingly, some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Weste and Uva provinces and Galle and Matara districts may receive heavy rain of 100 mm.

It is said that rain will occur in the mo ing in the North, South, Weste and Easte provinces.

Apart from this, foggy conditions may prevail in some places in Uva province and Ampara district in the mo ing.

The announcement further states that necessary steps should be taken to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
