It is expected that the southwest monsoon will gradually establish over the island in the next few days.

The announcement issued by the Department of Meteorology today states that there will be rain or thundershowers from time to time in the Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southe provinces.
 
It also stated that some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts may experience heavy rains of about 100 mm.

There are several rainy seasons in the North-West Province.
 
Uva and easte provinces will experience rain or thundershowers at some places in the evening or at night.
 
Strong winds of around 40-45 kmh are possible time to time across the island.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
