A special decision has been taken regarding the Presidential Palace, the Presidential Secretariat, the Prime Minister's official residence (Araliyagaha Mansion) and the Prime Minister's Office located on Mal Road, Colombo.

This is to preserve them as tourist attractions under the 'New Colombo Heritage City Plan'.
 
Under this plan, the current official Presidential House and Secretariat, Prime Minister's residence and office are to be moved to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.
