A wa ing has been issued regarding potential mosquito breeding during the upcoming southwest monsoon season, by the National Dengue Control Unit, under the Ministry of Health.

According to Sr. Sudath Samaraweera, the director of NDCU, 23,000 dengue cases have been reported around the island this year.

Colombo has the highest number of dengue patients among the Gampaha, Kalutara, and Jaffna districts.

Number of dengue-related deaths recorded this year is 9.

Meanwhile, National Dengue Prevention Week has been announced and it starts from May 26.
