The Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs informs that every Friday from today (26) every gove ment institution should take steps to set aside 2 hours for dengue control.
Its secretary Mr. Ranjith Ashoka said that instructions have been issued to the heads of institutions.
The Ministry Secretary announced that steps will be taken to issue a circular for that purpose.
Meanwhile, Dr. Naleen Ariyaratne, director of the National Dengue Control Unit, said that special programs are continuously being implemented with the coordination of the provincial gove ors to coordinate prevention activities in high-risk areas for the spread of dengue disease.
37,209 dengue cases have been diagnosed in the country so far this year.
The National Dengue Control Unit stated that 18,420 cases have been reported from the Weste Province.
The unit also stated that dengue is still in high risk condition in 61 medical officer divisions.
