Express Pearl marine damages claim in Singapore courts



The case filed by Sri Lanka before a Singapore court demanding compensation for the environmental damage caused by the fire of the Express Pearl ship in Sri Lankan waters is scheduled to be recalled today (15).

Representing Sri Lanka, a bar association in Singapore is going to appear in the case.

On the 9th, the related case was called for the first time in Singapore court.

On the 26th, the Atto ey General's Department filed a lawsuit in Singapore court seeking compensation for the environmental damage caused by the Express Pearl ship accident.

Meanwhile, the Maritime Environment Protection Authority says that steps have been taken to recalculate the damage caused by the Express Pearl ship that caught fire in Sri Lanka's waters.

Its chairman, Mr. Asela Rakeva, a lawyer, stated that the preparation of the report has started as per the instructions of the Atto ey General's Department.
