The Gove ment of India has demanded compensation from Sri Lanka for the support provided when the X-Press Pearl ship and the MT New Diamond ship were in danger in the Sri Lankan waters.

Accordingly, Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe stated that he had to pay an amount of 890 million Indian rupees.
 
The Minister points out that the Gove ment of India has notified the relevant request in writing.
