Israel has lowered its travel alert for Sri Lanka's Arugam Bay, reducing the threat level from four to two, according to the National Security Council.
The advisory was initially issued on October 23, wa ing Israeli citizens to avoid the popular surfing destination due to potential security threats.
The Times of Israel reported that a recent petition filed in a U.S. court alleged that Afghan national Farhad Shakari was recruited by Iranian authorities to lead an attack on Israelis in the region. Following this threat, Sri Lankan police heightened security measures, particularly in Arugam Bay and Pottuvil.
Six suspects, including a Maldivian national, have been arrested in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
