An extreme heatwave is causing chaos and destruction in India.
The hot weather has been circulating for about 24 days in different parts of the country and temperatures crossed 50C in some areas recently, making it the longest spell in history.
Eight deaths were reported within 72 hours in the easte state of Odisha yesterday (10).
According to official figures released last month 60 people have died between March and May across India due to causes related to unbearable heat.
However Indian media reports say the death toll is probably much higher as heat-related deaths go under-reported in rural areas of India.
Some areas of India are suffering from water shortages as extreme heat creates massive demands on supplies.
The upcoming monsoon season will hopefully bring some consolation to India.
