Sri Lanka's Mirissa beach has been ranked fourth among the best beaches in Asia.

This is after a survey conducted by Tripadvisor, a travel industry website, with its readers over the past 12 months regarding the best beaches in Asia.
 
Coastal areas of India, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Sri Lanka have been used for this survey.

Golden strips, rugged beaches and clear blue waters were used to select the winning beaches this year.
 
According to this website, Havelock Island in India has been selected as the number one beach in Asia, followed by Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida - Indonesia and Benaulim Beach in India as the third.

People involved in the tourism business point out that this choice is a special opportunity that can be promoted favorably for the tourism business in this country.
