Today (3), the Department of Meteorology announces that the current rain situation in the south-weste parts of the island can be expected to continue.
Accordingly, it is said that there will be occasional rains in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, North-West and Northe provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Some places in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts received 150mm heavy rains.
In Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts, it is said that there will be rain or thundershowers at places during the evening or at night.
Also, in the weste slopes of the central mountains, in the North-Central Province and in the districts of Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee, Strong winds of around 40-45 kmh are also possible.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
