According to the announcement issued by the Department of Meteorology today (14), there will be several periods of rain in Weste , Sabaragamuwa and North-Weste provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

It also stated that rain or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Uva province, Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or at night.

In North and North-Central Provinces and in Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee Districts, 40-45 kmh strong winds are possible.
 
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
