In a statement, the Department of Meteorology says that rain or thundershowers will occur from time to time in the Northe , North-Central, Easte and North-Weste provinces and heavy rains of more than 100 mm may occur in some places.

The announcement also states that there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms in the rest of the island after 1.00 pm.

There may be rain in the mo ing in the southe and weste provinces.

In North, North Central, North West and South Provinces and in Trincomalee and Batticaloa Districts, the wind will blow at times per 40-50 km.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
