Sizzling Climate - cautionary proclamation for schools

Sri Lanka is suffering from unbearable high temperatures during these days.

As it may rise further the Ministry of Education has advised principals to avoid keeping the students in the open areas on 28th, 29th, and 30th February.

Accordingly, Provincial and Zonal Education Officers have been instructed to inform all principals island-wide on this matter.

Last week the Department of Meteorology confirmed that Sri Lanka has no threat of facing a heatwave.

According to the department officials Heat index refers to the level at which people feel the heat. It doesn't necessarily indicate a rise in temperature alone.
