Colombo Chief Magistrate Mr. Prasanna Alwis yesterday (11) issued warrants to arrest a suspect involved in an illegal pyramid scheme by running a website called 'ONMAXDT Private Limited' and bring him to court.

It was for a suspect named Chamara Wickramathilaka.

Also, the financial and commercial crime investigation unit of the Criminal Investigation Department was also allowed by the court to send a report to the computer emergency response unit and call for a report related to the incident.

The directors of the company who were arrested in connection with this incident were remanded until the 5th and they have now been released on bail.

They are Indika Sampath, Gayeshan Abeyratne, Samith Sandaruwan, Indika Jayasekara and Dhananjaya Gayan.

The Financial and Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department informed the court in the previous session that nearly two hundred and twenty thousand people have been caught in this pyramid-type financial racket.

According to the investigations carried out so far, a financial fraud of around 3,000 crores of rupees has taken place and the suspects have obtained properties worth crores of rupees, including hotels, land vehicles, through this money obtained from the public.
