The issuance of the first digital birth certificate in Sri Lanka has been done today (05) under the leadership of the Minister of State for Home Affairs Mr. Ashoka Priyantha.

The related program was started in Kalutara district under the E-Population Register programme.

The Minister of State said that this national program will be extended to other districts as soon as possible.

He further stated that the number received in this National Birth Certificate will be converted into the National Identity Card number as per the inte ational standard through digital technology.
