State Minister of Finance Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya states that he will take a final decision after further discussion regarding the revision of annual excise license fees.

It was due to the protests of breweries and associations.

Accordingly, he mentioned that this crucial decision will be taken after President Ranil Wickremesinghe's visit to Switzerland and his retu to the island.

Through the excise ordinance issued by the president, the gove ment had decided to revise the annual excise license fees effective from January 12, 2024.

Various license fees, including distillery license, bottling, vinegar production and annual stock license for liquor have been adjusted and the annual license fee for nightclubs has also been fixed.
