The Department of Meteorology has issued an announcement saying that the current rain situation in the island is expected to continue.
That is due to the influence of the intertropical convergence zone (the zone where the winds coming from the northe hemisphere and the southe hemisphere converge) on the island's weather.
Accordingly, there will be rain or thundershowers from time to time in many parts of the island.
Some places in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Southe , Central and Uva provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 100 mm. Thunderstorms may occur.
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning.
