The Department of Meteorology has issued an announcement saying that there will be occasional rains in the Northe , North-Central, Easte and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district.

The announcement also states that there will be several periods of rain in Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Some places in Uva province, Ampara and Batticaloa districts may experience heavy rain of more than 75 mm.

After 2.00 pm in the rest of the island, scattered showers or thunderstorms are possible.

In the easte areas of the central mountains, in the northe , north-central, easte and Uva provinces, and in the Hambantota district, wind from time to time per 30-40 kmh.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
