The Department of Meteorology says that it is expecting an increase in the current rain conditions in the island.
The intertropical convergence zone (the zone where the winds coming from the northe hemisphere and the southe hemisphere converge) is affecting the island's weather and due to its influence.
According to the announcement, rain or thundershowers will occur in many parts of the island after 2.00 pm.
Some places in Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 100 mm.
Rains are also possible in the mo ing in the coastal areas of Weste , Southe and Easte provinces and Mannaram and Jaffna districts.
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
