A police officer attached to the Kinniya Police Station in Trincomalee has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption for accepting a bribe.
It is reported that the police officer had demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to avoid prosecution of a 17-year-old man who was riding a motorcycle without a driving license.
The suspect has been remanded until the 9th after being produced before the Trincomalee Magistrate.
