The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that a temporary development of rainy weather conditions is expected in many parts of the island from today (14) in the next few days.

It also states that there will be occasional rains in Easte and Uva provinces and in Mullaitivu, Matale, Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts.

Several rainy seasons occur in Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Anuradhapura districts.

Scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in other areas after around 1.00 pm.

About 100 mm of heavy rain is possible in Easte , Uva, Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

Foggy conditions may prevail in some places in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southe provinces in the mo ing.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
