Gitanjali Aiyar, who worked as a news anchor for India's 'Doordarshan' channel, has died.

She was 71 years old when she died.

She joined 'Doordarshan' channel in 1971 and worked there for 30 years.

She has also won the 'Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini' award given to the most outstanding woman of the year in India in 1989.
