The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that a temporary reduction in rain conditions is expected in the Easte and Uva provinces today and in the next two days.

It is also mentioned in the announcement that there will be some rain in the Easte Province and Matale District.

In Sabaragamuwa, Southe , Weste and Uva Provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Districts after around 2.00 PM there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms.

Some places in Galle, Matara and Ratnapura districts may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
