Conservation efforts in Cambodia have achieved a significant milestone with the hatching of 60 baby Siamese crocodiles, the highest number recorded this century.
After over 20 years of dedicated efforts to revive this critically endangered species, the crocodiles, once thought extinct, have shown signs of natural breeding in the remote Cardamom Mountains.
Conservation group Fauna & Flora, along with local NGOs and the Cambodian gove ment, has successfully bred and released 196 crocodiles since 2012, with recent discoveries indicating a thriving population in the wild.
The olive-green freshwater reptile, identifiable by a distinct bony crest on the back of its head, can grow up to 3 meters or nearly 10 feet.
