Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has publicly denied allegations of misconduct during his Law College examination and challenged Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe to provide evidence to support the claims.
Speaking in Parliament today (18), Rajapaksa dismissed the accusations as unfounded. He stated that if any investigation proves the allegations true, he would resign from his position as a Member of Parliament. However, he insisted that if the claims are found to be false, Samarasinghe should step down instead.
The controversy began yesterday (17), when Samarasinghe accused Rajapaksa of receiving assistance from two lawyers while sitting for his Law College exam in a private air-conditioned room. He also claimed the allegations were corroborated by an eyewitness who now resides in the UK after allegedly receiving threats.
Rajapaksa criticized Samarasinghe for using parliamentary privileges to make such accusations, urging the gove ment to investigate the matter thoroughly. “This is not just about me—it conce s the credibility of Sri Lanka Law College,” he said.
In response, Samarasinghe stated that the eyewitness had contacted him and expressed willingness to retu to Sri Lanka to file a formal complaint and participate in an investigation.
