The National Dengue Control Unit says that 61 Medical Officers of Health offices in the island have been designated as Dengue High Risk Zones.
Community Health Specialist Dr. Lahiru Kodituvakku said that 15 of these medical offices are showing an increase in dengue patients compared to the past few days.
The total number of dengue cases reported in the country is 36,560. Accordingly, nearly 50% of the total number of patients are identified from the Weste Province.
Of these, 8,200 patients have been identified in Gampaha district and 7,600 patients in Colombo district.
He added that 25% of the total patients are between 5-19 years of age.
Meanwhile, the Colombo Municipal Council says that legal action has been taken against 307 people who ran places where mosquito larvae breed during the inspections carried out in conjunction with the Dengue Prevention Fortnight.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said that 877 red notices have been issued.
