Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi dissolved the country's House of Representatives today (23).

Foreign media reported that the House of Representatives was dissolved in order to obtain a public mandate for his new economic and security policies.

It has also been decided to hold a general election across Japan on February 8.
