Parliament is set to convene today (December 3) at 9:30 AM under the chairmanship of Speaker Ashoka Ranwala.
The session will include a debate on a motion presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, scheduled for today and tomorrow. A vote on the motion will take place tomorrow (December 4) at 5:00 PM.
This week’s parliamentary sessions will run until December 6, with a significant focus on the gove ment's interim vote account for the first four months of 2025. The motion will be presented on December 5, with debates scheduled for December 5 and 6.
Additionally, the establishment of the Select Committee of the 10th Parliament is planned for today. Opposition parties have proposed Dr. Harsha de Silva, a Member of Parliament from Samagi Jana Balawegaya, for the position of Chairman of the Finance Committee. Several parties, including the New Democratic Front and the United National Party, have expressed their support for his appointment.
Dr. Harsha de Silva has previously served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee on two occasions.
