The final phase of this year’s Population and Housing Census, focusing on collecting data about homeless individuals, was conducted successfully on the night of December 18.
The data collection took place between 10:00 PM and 12:00 midnight, according to Anoja Seneviratne, Director General of the Department of Population and Statistics.
With this phase completed, the overall activities of the census, which began on October 7, have officially concluded. The department has allocated the next five days for updates and final checks on the collected data.
Seneviratne also announced that a preliminary report on the census findings will be released within a month following the updating process.
The public is encouraged to report any instances where census officers may have missed visiting their homes by calling the department’s short number, 1901.
This year’s census aims to provide comprehensive insights into population trends and housing statistics, contributing to informed decision-making and planning.
