Excise Department officers raided a well-known casino in Kollupitiya for illegally operating multiple liquor counters.

The operation, conducted on instructions from the Commissioner General of Excise, uncovered 100 duty-free foreign liquor bottles worth over Rs. 2.5 million.

The five-story casino reportedly offered free liquor to members at counters on each floor, violating regulations that permit only one licensed liquor counter per location.

Officials highlighted that these illegal activities are causing significant tax losses to the country. The raid involved a joint effort by officers from the Excise Department’s head office and the Colombo City Excise Office.
