The Department of Meteorology says that the southwest monsoon is gradually establishing itself across the island.

The department stated that showers may occur at times in the Weste , Sabaragamuwa, and Northweste provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.

The Department of Meteorology further stated that some places may experience fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm.

Several spells of showers may occur in the Northe Province and Anuradhapura District.
