South Africa legalized marijuana

President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa signed the Cannabis for Private Purposes Act, making South Africa the first African nation to legalize the use of marijuana.

The Act removes cannabis from South Africa’s list of banned narcotics.

However, selling cannabis remains illegal except for medicinal purposes prescribed by a doctor.
