The police dispersed a protest organized by the Development Officers in front of the Ministry of Education in Pelawatte this afte oon (02).

The protest was held to demand the immediate recruitment of school development officers into the teaching service. Protesters marched from Battaramulla to the Ministry before staging the demonstration.

A tense situation arose during the protest, resulting in injuries to several police officers. Three protesters were arrested during the commotion.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation.
